1. I learned that the structure or the lengthening of the paragraphs brought us closer to the box man.

2. The literal meaning of the text and why he supposedly had STD's

3. I wish i had asked about the box man's STD's

  1. I did think that the annotation was curious. But did you ever stop to consider if it matters whether or not he has STD's. Perhaps it adds to the initial stereotyping of the homeless man which as the text opens up changes dramatically resulting in creating sympathy. Or perhaps it doesn't have significance and is one readers interpretation.

  2. I as well noticed the note about the Box Man having STD's and didn't quite understand why, and wish we could have discussed why we all agreed with that conclusion. I myself found the literal and figurative meanings of the essay to be similar.

  3. I wonder where the annotater got the idea that the box-man has STD's, as I couldn't figure out where. I also notice that two of your answers involved STD's, so I hope that you can figure it out by closer analysis.

  4. I also learned about the significance of paragraph length, but as much as it is hard to figure out why the STD bit is in there, i don't think it has any major significance to the passage as a whole.

  5. I agree with you on length of paragraphs, and I too am quite shocked that we weren't able to cover such a controversial topic in the discussion.
(I am curious, in all honesty)

    1. I guess we could have, but where did you get the reference anyway?

    2. There was a note in the margin of all our stories saying that the Box man had STDs
